Garden Arbor
A simple garden arbor adds beauty and utility to a yard. In this case, the backyard neighbor
has honeysuckle growing along a privacy fence. This plant grows over the top of the fence each season. The homeowner is hoping to
carry this plant off the fence and on to the arbor to both reduce the weight on the fence and to add color and beauty to their own yard.
The construction process starts by digging in and applying concrete to support posts which must be checked several times to insure they are plumb.
Then several 2x6 crossbars are attached to these posts. They too must be plumb and firmly attached to the posts with deck screws.
Five foot sections of 2x6 are then added to the top of the structure to form a lattice work of sorts which plants can attach to, and finally, 4x4 supports are cut and added to
each main post for additional support.
